The hospital reflects the philosophies of family-centered care and the teachings of Carl Sagan, stressing our connection to the entire universe. A journey of healing and knowledge begins with a terrazzo bridge that spans the lobby and continues past a “You Are Here” map and enormous glass mural that pinpoints the hospital’s location in our galaxy. On each floor, artist installations relate to the developmental level of the child and quotes by Pablo Neruda accent the walls. Furthering the notion of an individualized journey, each room is outfitted with a custom intranet system.
