The bottles are the star of the show in this simple yet radical concept in wine retailing. Designed as a prototype for a national roll-out, wine selection is demystified by organizing the wines by description rather than grape type or region. Categories such as fresh, soft, sweet or fizzy allow customers to make a better selection with less confusion. Panels of American sycamore envelop the room while the floors are made of gray polished concrete. Wines are displayed in custom backlit cabinetry—as light filters through, the bottles take on the appearance of stained glass.
