Daily Provisions
Restaurant
When Danny Meyer sought to redesign his iconic Union Square Cafe in 2017, he also decided to create Daily Provisions, an all-day coffee and sandwich shop located in a tiny alcove next to the restaurant, for locals in the neighborhood.

We looked to the architectural vernacular of Irving Place and created a concept that evokes the feeling of an intimate boîte and acts as an extension of guests’ homes and offices. Equipped with an in-house bakery and collaborative access to the Union Square Cafe kitchen, Daily Provisions offers a seasonal menu of made-to-order dishes and breads available to stay or to go throughout the day.
Encircled in painted-blue millwork, the welcoming, bijoux ground-floor space features brass, wood, and marble accents, a central stone bar-height counter, and a back wall created by HAAND, the North Carolina-based, hand-crafted ceramics company that created Union Square Cafe and Daily Provisions’ “farmhouse futuristic” custom mugs and plates. Ideal for lingering with upholstered stools, with oak wood floors, custom tile, and antiqued mirrors throughout, the design concept intentionally complements the space’s range of functions at different times of day.
When Daily Provisions opened a second location in the West Village in 2021, Rockwell Group adapted its original design concept, adding a custom blue and grey concrete-tiled ramp and neon signage that illuminates the corner location and serves as a beacon for walk-in traffic.
In 2023, the beloved eatery expanded to Brooklyn, opening on a busy street corner in Cobble Hill.
In each location, the bathroom features custom-designed wallpaper with illustrations of the “five B’s” that are served at Daily Provisions: Bread, Booze, Bird (rotisserie chicken and eggs), Beans (coffee), and Breakfast.
