Sandblu is an idyllic resort in Kamari, a seaside village on the southeastern coast of Santorini, that offers guests breathtaking views of the Aegean sea and a stunning caldera site right on its doorstep.

Rockwell Group was inspired by the resort’s cascading geometric forms, which appear to tumble down towards the ocean. In order for guests to experience that transition from cliffs to coast, we developed a material palette of natural local stones, white-washed woods, and luxurious marbles, peppered with pops of blue and sage green and lush greenery.

The resort’s laid-back glamour is captured in a pair of villas. Each of these luxurious homes opens onto a private infinity pool and outdoor living room.

10 2024 BluSand Resort 247 — Inside, a sculptural bar and marble backsplash holds a dramatic tension against plaster walls, travertine and stone side tables, wicker pendant lighting, and linen drapery. Curved ceilings mimic traditional Santorini interiors while a monolithic marble stair leads guests to the bedroom, where they can savor the view from the balcony.

The juxtaposition of clean lines, rich textures and unbeatable views carries through to the Apnea Restaurant and Aroma Wine Bar, where guests can dine in an inviting array of settings such as a tapas bar with a large chef’s table, an open kitchen that can transform into a private dining experience or the airy outdoor garden, accessible through glass and deep blue metal framed doors via the main dining room.

10 2024 BluSand Resort 238 — In contrast, the all-day dining restaurant Plateia offers a more relaxed atmosphere, with natural light streaming in from skylights and shade offered by slatted beams. The dining room seamlessly segues to the poolside beyond, where a white-washed oak pergola, infinity pool and daybeds beckon.
