Gekkō

Miami, FL

Dining booth seating at Gekko Miami.

Restaurant

David Grutman and Bad Bunny's restaurant blends iconic Japanese imagery with contemporary aesthetics, creating a serene dining and lounge experience at the ground floor of the SLS Lux Brickell Tower. Gekkō means “moonlight” in Japanese, and we were inspired to create moments of radiating luminosity against a darkened palette.

The focal point of the main dining room is the sushi bar. A custom undulating gold and red dip-dyed rope installation by Chelsea Plumb floats over the bar and creates a sculptural chandelier effect.

The restaurant features a rich language of materials including jewel tones, natural wood, and accents of mirror and bronze, to compliment a range of custom elements such as graphic wallcoverings by Candice Kaye and sculptures.
