Envisioned as a modern rooftop conservatory and garden, Rockwell Group designed a glass-enclosed structure that bridges the indoors and outdoors. A celebration of natural materials, structure and light, the open-plan space features high ceilings, a peaked roof, wood-fin clad columns, bronze capitals, and muscular trusses.
The cathedral-like aerie culminates in a 17’ skylight and boasts a rectangular volume that has been oriented to maximize the southern exposure. A luminous cork and metallic foil wallcovering by David Rockwell for Maya Romanoff strikes a dramatic tone at the entrance, which continues through to the custom cast glass and polished metal chandeliers, designed in a collaboration with Gabriel Scott.
